Session two of Citizens’ Correctional Academy took participants inside the Lois M. DeBerry Special Needs Facility, which serves as the primary site for inmate clinical and mental health care in the state. CCA participant Ryan Hamilton said he looked forward to learning about how TDOC is preparing inmates for re-entry amid their health challenges. Session three of Citizens’ Correctional Academy was held at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center (DJRC) in Nashville, which serves as the primary diagnostic center for female inmates in Tennessee. DJRC offers a multitude of evidence-based programs to meet various rehabilitative needs, and offers academic opportunities including Adult Basic Education and Title I special education classes.
