This appears to be a tight race between second-year pro Spencer Rattler and rookie Tyler Shough. New coach Kellen Moore says this battle will go down to the wire -- even through the Saints' final preseason matchup against the Denver Broncos .

Rattler is a former top collegiate prospect whose draft stock plummeted late in his NCAA career. He ended up making seven appearances and six starts for the Saints in 2024, throwing for 1,317 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 57 percent of his passes. Not great.
