James Gunn created the American superhero TV show Peacemaker for HBO Max. It is a spin-off of The Suicide Squad (2021) and centers on John Cena’s character Chris Smith, also referred to as Peacemaker.

It's been three and a half years since the season 1 of Peacemaker, starring Cena as the main character, premiered on HBO Max. The series is finally coming back for season 2, and DC Universe (DCU) overseer James Gunn is having a blast with the actor in their promotional appearances for season 2.

Frank Grillo says he was left "surprised" by John Cena during their time working together on Peacemaker. While attending the premiere for the show’s second season, the actor, 60, told PEOPLE that the WWE pro-wrestler turned actor, 48, delivered a performance that caught him off guard — in the best way.

"Came out here to have some fun," the actor and professional wrestler joked as his legs were separated further and further apart.
