Vice President JD Vance says National Guard troops are making substantial progress tackling crime in Washington, D.C., and suggests their mission may extend beyond 30 days.

An estimated 1,900 troops are being deployed in D.C. with more than half are coming from GOP-led states responding to the Trump admin.

JD Vance had made an unscheduled stop at the Shake Shack to hand out hamburgers to National Guard troops stationed in the city.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth visited Union Station on Wednesday to speak with National Guard members who have been positioned at the station and were greeted by protesters.
