International Paper Co. has announced the closure of two Georgia paper mills, including a Savannah mill that's been a key part of the local economy for 90 years

As part of its restructuring, the company will permanently close its Savannah containerboard mill and packaging facility as well as its Riceboro containerboard mill and timber operations. The closures, set to be completed by the end of September, will impact approximately 1,100 employees.
