Evacuations were ordered on barrier islands along the Carolina coast such as Hatteras as authorities warned the storm could churn up dangerous rip currents and swamp roads with 15 foot waves.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking three systems in the Atlantic, according to the 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, advisory.

The hurricane is now generating dangerous rip currents from Florida to New England, but it is not expected to make landfall in the US.
