PORTLAND (WGME) -- The impacts from Hurricane Erin have arrived along Maine's coast. Expect dangerous rip currents and high surf on Friday. A high surf advisory is in effect at 6 AM Friday through 8 PM Saturday. High waves will likely cause some beach erosion and splash over especially during high tide periods.

Hurricane Erin, far enough away from the East Coast yet close enough to show off its might, pounded New England’s southern coastline Thursday with huge, crashing waves of up to 20 feet.
