Mandatory evacuations for a new wildfire burning west of Red Feather Lakes were downgraded to voluntary Thursday evening.

Mandatory evacuations were issued near Deadman Road in Larimer County on Thursday afternoon. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said that mandatory evacuations were ordered for the area near Deadman Road and including County Road 86 due to a wildfire.

The outer bands of Hurricane Erin, now over 600 miles wide as it turns north, will lash the East Coast with tropical storm force winds, up to 4 feet of storm surge and waves up to 20 feet.

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — Mandatory evacuations are ordered for a new wildfire Thursday afternoon in Larimer County. The evacuation area is near Deadman Road, including County Road 86. This is west of Red Feather Lakes and north of the communities of Spencer Heights and Kinikinik.

Officials are urging visitors to begin evacuating at 10 a.m. Monday from Hurricane Evacuation Zone A, which includes the unincorporated villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras. Residents are to begin evacuating at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
