This was the new food that surprised me most, for better and worse. Peanut butter and burgers go together well, but the Uncrustaburger raised eyebrows because the "bun" is a pair of deep-fried peanut butter and jelly Uncrustables. It also has cheese, pickles, and a special sauce.

Counting down to our No. 1 favorite 2025 Minnesota State Fair new food. What is it: Deep-fried pastry dough topped with powdered sugar. Our verdict: Nothing flashy, but solid quality makes these worthwhile. Jess Fleming, food editor: That’s nice and fluffy. I’ve had worse beignets at fancy restaurants!
