Hurricane Erin will churn dangerous surf and a high risk of rip currents at Jersey Shore beaches through Saturday, the National Weather Service said.
Forecasters are warning swimmers early Friday that U.S. East Coast beaches will remain dangerous for the coming days, as Hurricane Erin continues its northeasterly flight from the United States.
Hurricane Erin was battering the northeast with strong winds and heavy surf on Friday morning as forecasters monitored three other systems in the Atlantic for possible tropical formation.
Although the storm is expected to stay offshore, it will produce dangerous surf conditions for much of the Atlantic Coast this week, forecasters say.
