Sky gazers across Metro Vancouver could catch a glimpse of the northern lights tonight, but they may need the foggy weather to cooperate.

According to NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center and NRCan's Canadian Space Weather Forecast Centre, we continue to have G2 to G3 level geomagnetic storms ("stormy" to "major storm" conditions via the CSWFC) throughout the day on Tuesday.
Any places at elevations above 200 metres, which is the height of the layer of fog, could also see the aurora. That includes the North Shore mountains. Still, some wispy clouds could throw a wrench into the viewing. "The question mark of how much [of that cloud] covers the sky. Sometimes it's very thin, and it's fine," he notes.
A NOAA forecast has Northern Lights visible in northern U.S. states overnight on Monday, Jan. 19 through Tuesday, Jan. 20, as a “full-halo” CME heads to Earth.
